Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam is a great scientist of India. He made India self- sufficient in defence field. He was also scientific advisor to the Government of India APJ. Abdul Kalam was born on 15th October 1931 in the district of Rameshwaram in Tamil Nadu. His father had to rent boats to fisherman to pay his school fees. Years later, he went to study aeronautical engineering at the Madras Institute of Technology. He is a bachelor but wedded to science. He recites the Kuran and Bhagvad Gita daily with equal ease. He went abroad for a brief period to join National Aeronautical and Space Administration. Then coming back to India he joined the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in 1958. He became the director in DRDO and headed the country's missile development programme Under his supervision, the successful launching of Aakash, Agni, Trishul, Nag and Prithvi missiles took place Dr. Kalam is the scientist to get Bharat Rata in 1997 after Dr. C.V Raman and Dr. Homi Jahangir Bhabha. He has also been awarded Padma Bhushan in 1981 and "Padma Vibhushan" in 1990. Dr. Kalam is the father of missile technology in India. Truly his colleagues describe him as 200 per cent Indian and patriot. He is well famous as "Missile-Man". He has been elected President of India in the year 2002. His slogan is "Do thing yourself. Do not indulge in short-cuts by importing equipment He has embedded spiritualism in science. According to him science and spirituality are the two sides of one coin . He has nothing of his own, except science in India.
